EYE NUTRITION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK!
Did you know that ultraviolet light from the sun and lacking certain antioxidants are risk factors in developing cataracts and macular degeneration. As a knoledgable contact lens wearer it is important to wear sunglasses with uv protection when out in high sun conditions. It is also important to eat vegetables or take multivitamins to supplement our intake of essential nutrients. One of the most popular studies in the eye care field is the AREDS study. This study concluded that vitamins A, C, E, B12, AND ZINC OXIDE, were able to slow the onset of macular degeneration and even slow the progression in people that already had macular degeneration in some people. Lutein is another nutrient said to help the integrity of the retina, although I am not aware of any scientific study on lutein. So protect your eyes, wear those sunglasses and take your vitamins!
